Fresh on the heels of his 2009 album « Second Hand Store », DNO presents another string of tunes for which the only genre tag that could ft would be « Americana » : it's a diverse collection of North American styles tied together by David's tongue-in- cheek lyrics and René Gely's superb arrangements.
David Nelson Ostrosser (pronounced OstROSSer) spent his formative years travelling Western Canada, from Vancouver to Manitoba and all the way up to Dawson City, Yukon, playing his piano and singing in rowdy bars. He has sporadically released music over several decades, mostly in the Americana genre, but also for a Francophone audience. Since moving East to Gatineau, Qc., where the distances between gigs are a little easier to handle, producer René Gely, frst on the album "SecondHandStore",and now to bring you"MyBachelor Ways". Listeners have compared him to playful tunesmiths such as Randy Newman, and you can hear the musical influence of Leon Russell and Dr. John, as well.
Digipack CD version of David Nelson Ostrosser's 2009 album 'Second Hand Store', featuring popular DNO numbers like 'I Rattle When I Walk' and 'Only A Daydream Away'. The album was conceived in the format of a vinyl LP with one "side" displaying a more sincere, country-Americana mood, and the other the other giving a foretaste of the wry, tongue-in-cheek approach that is the focus of his latest album, 'My Bachelor Ways". Like MBW, Second Hand Store was co-produced and arranged by multi-instrumentalist René Gely, who called on his most talented musical colleagues to lend a hand. Full musician credits and pertinent information are included on the inside cover. The CD includes a free digital download as well, if desired. Copies are limited.
My Bachelor Ways
David Nelson Ostrosser (DNO)
DNO's brand new album, "My Bachelor Ways", produced by DNO and multi-instrumentalist and arranger René Gely negotiating months of "restrictions" and "fewer restrictions", but still managing to bring some of the best musicians in the region into the mix. It's a diverse collection of genres that could only fit under the vast and vague label of "Americana" (albeit done by Canadians), all tied together by René's masterful arrangements and David's tongue-in-cheek writing style.
